[TEDx] Mapping Ideas Worth Spreading

What do 24,000 ideas look like? Ecologist Eric Berlow and physicist Sean Gourley apply algorithms to the entire archive of TEDx Talks, taking us on a stimulating visual tour to show how ideas connect globally.

Interesting - and great visualization.

Innovation of loneliness

Innovation of loneliness - a powerful perspective. Whether you agree or not, this is something we are seeing happening in large numbers, with the rapid rise of the mobile, cloud and social technologies. While these are disruptive and technological innovations no doubt, how these will shape the next human generation can be a cause for worry too, and surely there will be ramifications. Can this be stopped? Should it be stopped? There are no right and objective answers.

But, let's start thinking about it. (Oh, and did we forget to say, share this with others whom you may think will appreciate it !)

[Trends] Bus Travel gets exciting with the new 'Superbus'

Well, if you haven't already fallen off your seat looking at this awesome picture, then go ahead and read...

The Superbus, developed in part by the Delft University of Technology, Netherlands, is a "new concept for sustainability", based on an electric drivetrain and utilizes a lightweight build, providing a very low energy consumption cost.

Check out this video clip which shows this super vehicle - something to watch out for in the near future. It's amazing, no matter what you feel! Great work to the Dutch team that conceptualized this.

[Infographic] The Analytics Big Bang

Big Data is a real thing today:
* 2.7 trillion GB of data was created or replicated in 2012
* Every day 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created
* The number of connected devices is expected to grow from 9 billion in 2011 to 24 billion in 2020

However, this isn't exactly a "big bang" phenomenon, more so regarding solutions to address the problems this would require to be solved. Data Scientists (see post: [Infographic] Decoding Data Science & the Data Scientist) have been studying this for over 50 years and this great infographic by FICO succinctly illustrates the innovations in this space over the past 70+ years and which are expected to power the role of analytics - including predictive analytics - in the not so distant future. As IBM has outlined, they are focused on building the "Smarter Planet".
