However, this isn't exactly a "big bang" phenomenon, more so regarding solutions to address the problems this would require to be solved. Data Scientists (see post: [Infographic] Decoding Data Science & the Data Scientist) have been studying this for over 50 years and this great infographic by FICO succinctly illustrates the innovations in this space over the past 70+ years and which are expected to power the role of analytics - including predictive analytics - in the not so distant future. As IBM has outlined, they are focused on building the "Smarter Planet".
