[Article] An Agile Mindset Imperative

We are living in disruptive times - what with predictions of bot armies taking over the world, and autonomous vehicles seemingly getting more and more prevalent in the near future.

But, an important and interesting question to address this would be: are we ready for this? Ready, not in the sense of adapting to using this, but eventually, living in a world driven (no pun intended!) by these? And, what will it take to prepare for this, in terms of educating and learning for the future?

Heather McGowan, shares interesting perspectives and facts on planning for and inculcating an agile mindset imperative, for the class of 2020. A good read!

[Article] Careful of Machines, Soul

Driverless cars, smart devices, robotic processors, artificial intelligence, autonomic computing ... in a world increasingly connected by the Internet of (every) Thing. That's the disruption or revolution, our planet is currently witnessing.

But, when we envision a future (see the movie Passengers, for a sense of the world of the future), we have to understand the implications for the human civilization. Issac Asimov unveiled, more than 75 years back, the early versions of the laws of robotics. It is probably now time to take cognizance of these to ensure the world we create and live in will ensure we do so still with the tenets that make (or made?) us humans.

A good article on this topic was recently published in the Economic Times (ET, India)
Nylon to Neutron: Careful of machines, Soul.

[Infog] Unbundling the Automobile (of the future)

Technology is advancing rapidly, and also disrupting the way we live our lives. The reality of an 'Internet of Things', IoT for short, is already upon us. Driverless cars are being made, and tested as we publish this article, and are already on their way to become more mainstream, with pilots being conducted in some major cities around the world already.

Uber disrupted the hitherto taxi services on the planet, and driverless taxies plus cars (soon) will follow. There's a lot happening in this space, and a lot of companies are working on making the automobile of the future smart, safe and secure. This simple infographic from CBInsights.com depicts the spread and depth of what's currently underway.

Futuristic NASA ship - Powered by Wind

As technology advances, man's desire to conquer the world beyond seems to be growing. While major advances and breakthroughs have been achieved in the last 50+ years, a big challenge with space exploration, or rather, space travel, is the time it takes to traverse the vastness of empty space between celestial bodies. Whilst breaking the light-barrier may not be possible in the near foreseeable future, scientists are looking at newer ways to go faster.

Check out how this futuristic NASA ship could reach the edge of the solar system, without "worrying" about powering it. What wind are they planning to tap into? Intrigued? Watch on.
